Latino men’s nefarious attraction to Trump

People are asking about Latino men and why they voted for Trump and the answer is found in the reasons why people in general use Trump,  then why Latino men as a subsection of men use Trump.

Why people in general use Trump

People use Trump to validate defiance against the culture of responsibility. A responsible person today cares about the environment, is anti-war, is invested in healing, believes in people’s rights to decide for themselves, and so on. They also take care of their personal responsibilities and live their life journey faithfully.  The culture of cruelty, instead, is interested in maintaining violent male supremacy, the pre-mature orgasm, being inconsiderate of others, political oppression, and hate. It is a life of bad faith.

Supporters of Trump are supporters of the culture of cruelty which is lawless, violent, and mean despite always calling upon the rule of law to finish off victims. One can say the Democrats also do bad things which makes it a partisan or political issue. It can be seen that way, but Trump and support for Trump reveal cultural truths beyond the election— his representation of the culture of cruelty.

People who like him revel as an annoying character of being offensive for attention and then being manipulative to try and get a moral high ground. It’s a character that can’t be lived with. It has to be discarded, kept at a distance, or ignored. This is why most people, even fans, tend not to consume much of his content. They just use the energy he gives them for their own misdeeds.

One misdeed is using Trump to engage in discourse and avoid learning anything by being intellectually dishonest. They get a reaction from non-supporters by bringing him up to try to irritate but avoid accountability for any of the things they support by using Trump and being intellectually dishonest. When they meet another Trump fan they get more comfortable in a community of other offensive and intellectually dishonest people. It becomes easier for them to live and have a sense of dignity gained falsely. The example set by Trump, how he is normalized, and how he reveals a comfortable base for the culture of cruelty is enough for his supporters to express themselves without the shame of being hateful.

The culture of cruelty is a disease. It is a sickness that is deeply anti-human. No matter how intellectually and spiritually deprived people become, they will insist they are healthy. They see no useful mechanism to assess quality and righteousness except the will of their emotional immaturity.

Why Latino men use Trump

The topic of Latino men comes up because they supported Republicans and Trump like never before and almost more than any other demographic that has been mentioned. It brings them under scrutiny and they become a talking point to try and legitimize Trump or delegitimize Latino men. The phenomenon could be talked about to fuel talking points in partisan ways to maybe understand why it matters at all, but the phenomenon is also a question of how Latino men fit into the culture of cruelty.

Transferring the usage of Trump to Latino men reveals a desire for misogyny connected to deep insecurities around their masculinity. Latino men in a white supremacist society have been emasculated. They have been shown as more feminine than whites. They are shown as hyper-sexual hunks so men who are not hunks become insecure. They are expected and groomed to dominate women. They have ego issues.

The ego issues supersede any intellectual arguments. I see many people say they feel like they did not get won over by Kamala. That statement reveals they are making it about their ego rather than an intellectual argument. It is an excuse in the end and isn’t even accurate, but their excuse reveals that they need to feel more important. They use Trump to boost their ego instead because he functions as propaganda for the culture of cruelty’s expectations for men.

The negative patterns of Latino behavior of vanity, sexism, chauvinism, and so on began with Spanish culture and continue in the modern age with Spanish language television and white supremacist education. With an education in the United States, the domesticated Latino is expected to get a college job, raise a family, and become a middle-class ideological stalwart— completed with bigoted views towards everyone else and their past squalor represented by something like new immigrants. The education we receive is not meant for much else.

The television— Spanish TV in this case— is full of misinformation, stereotypes, and useless mind-killing gossip. The gossip gets to the point where it becomes reliable. People will watch the TV and believe whatever opinion on the TV.They are so vulnerable to tricks and appeals to their ego. Spanish TV just puts a white guy on and makes sure he has on a suit. It doesn’t have to be very nice. Then the people who wear t-shirts every day and don’t know much will try to use that information against someone else. One does not even need to watch it, because a parent probably watched it at some point and passed on its lessons. It has its intended effect.

Latino is also not a category that has been mapped well. Who gets categorized as Latino could depend on skin color, mixed origin, and self-identification. The Latino identification itself is a misnomer and lends itself toward identifying with whiteness or a separate race that is in flux between wanting to make the leap to American whiteness and wanting to be distinct.

While we are not a monolith and are also very progressive and revolutionary-minded, Latino men have to overcome a litany of conditions that guide them towards alpha male content, chauvinism, and anti-intellectualism. We must create a masculinity that can truly protect, care, and be self-sufficient and healed. One which can be a part of a strong society, culture, and economy. And one that can learn from women and other gender identities and thrive alongside them. We must become strong enough that even if it is a case where a woman is promoting sexist politics, we do not fold.

We must take our power back and leave behind the emotional plague of being molded by manipulators who prey on insecurity.
